c.1960 Yonezawa, Battery Operated "X-5 Moon Patrol Vehicle"

c.1960 Yonezawa, Battery Operated

Scarce tin litho battery operated space tank manufactured by Yonezawa. Called the "X-5 Moon Patrol Vehicle" it features more battery actions than most vehicles of its type. Despite lacking its original box the toy grades excellent+ with all functions working beautifully. It's complete and original.

This is the blue and red version with black underside. A very rare white and red version also exists. A small Yonezawa trademark was lithoed on the exterior battery door underneath the chassis.

It features stop and go movement, revolving rubber treads, a large half-turn swiveling turret with conical springs topped with red or blue plastic colored balls, a metal helmeted astronaut driver with two oxygen tanks, a thin metal rod antenna, a large flashing ray gun cannon with convoluted red lighting (see below), large rotating metal antenna and dish, and high pitched grinding sound. The blue plastic bulb on the top of the ray gun cannon also lights up.

It's on/off switch is located on the rear panel below the fins. And again it works great!

Size: 9" x 4½" x 7½" (with dish).
